It seems surreal that Obama has won the election. How amazing. I normally resist mentioning someone's ethnicity or sexual orientation in relation to their success as I believe people should be judged on their own merits and not in relation to arbitrary factors. However, it is hugely significant and comforting that America has voted to have a black President, and a black First Family.
And it gives the world an optimistic outlook for the first time in eight years.
